Therapeutic Gardening Group

£0.00

A 2hr weekly social and therapeutic horticulture workshop, working with adults with stroke and brain injury. The sessions focus on using growing, gardening and a range of other land-based activities to aid rehabilitation and contribute to wellbeing and connecting with nature in a supportive environment. We use a variety of approaches and practitioners to deliver a multi-disciplinary programme of activities within the walled garden, from physiotherapy to nature art to outdoor cookery. Of course, the core activity is growing, tending and harvesting the constant supply of organic fruit and vegetables, herbs and edible flowers. And tea. Lots and lots of tea.

The project has been running since 2017. Places are limited and the group is at full capacity at present. If you’re a Stroke or Brain Injury survivor, or have a brain condition, and are interested in joining the group, please email us. Although the group is full we keep a note of expressions of interest so we can contact people in the event a place becomes available. Don’t worry about whether the site is suitable for you, we will always invite people to come along for a visit to look at access before joining up. But if you want to come and see the garden and assess whether it’s suitable for you, we hold public Open Garden sessions every Wed 2-4pm where you can visit with friends, family or carers.

Get in touch using the link below to make an expression of interest and join our mailing list. Please let us know some brief detail on your disability/health condition and whether you’d be attending alone or with a friend/carer. This helps us guage our staffing capacity to allocate places as they come free. Sadly, we don’t often have places come free but occasionally people’s weekly patterns do change so it’s worth getting in touch.
