PAST EVENT: Climate Cafe 17 March 2024
PAST EVENT: Climate Cafe 17 March 2024
Sunday 17 March 11.15 to 1pm
(rescheduled from 21 January)
Join us in the walled garden for a safe and welcoming space to get together with others over hot drinks and biscuits and explore how the climate crisis is affecting you. This is not a place for action, argument or facts. It's an opportunity to share your thoughts and feelings on climate breakdown supported by facilitators from the Climate Psychology Alliance.
The session will take place from 11.15 to 1.00pm at the Growing Sudley Therapeutic Garden. The main part of the session will take place in the polytunnel, but weather permitting we will access other parts of the garden and perhaps gather round the fire circle. Please dress appropriately for the weather including good shoes and layers to keep warm whilst sitting still in the unheated polytunnel.
We are sparing in our use of fire, for environmental reasons, but we recognise its importance for social and cultural purposes. Please let us know in your booking form if you have any conditions which make woodfires difficult for you.
The session will be informal but structured, guided and supported by experienced facilitators and psychotherapists Dinah Dossor and Joanna Smith. With clear rules of engagement, the session involves group sharing of thoughts and feelings, but is an advice-free zone.
If you have never been to a Climate Café before, the concept was adapted from the Death Café model, a simple hospitable, empathetic space where fears and uncertainties about climate and ecological crisis can be safely expressed. You can find out more here: Climate Cafés (climatepsychologyalliance.org)
These workshops are for people over 18, if you are under 18 and would like the chance to explore your feelings about climate crisis, please get in touch at growingsudley@gmail.com
