Rebecca is a yoga teacher and Thai Yoga massage therapist specialising in yoga based stress reduction and mental wellness for women in perimenopause and beyond. Menopause is a transformative journey, and finding balance is key. Yin Yoga offers a gentle, restorative practice that can work wonders during this transitional phase. Here’s how:
✨ Relieve Anxiety and Stress: Yin Yoga focuses on deep, mindful stretches that activate the parasympathetic nervous system, helping to calm the mind and reduce anxiety.
✨ Ease Joint Pain: Long-held postures in Yin Yoga improve joint mobility and flexibility, which can alleviate discomfort and stiffness.
✨Balance Hormones: By stimulating the channels or energy liners connected to the endocrine system, Yin Yoga supports hormonal balance, aiding in the balancing of menopausal symptoms.
✨ Promote Inner Calm: Yin Yoga’s meditative nature encourages mindfulness and self-compassion, fostering a sense of inner peace and acceptance.
Ready to dive deeper? Join us for this upcoming workshop, Embrace the Calm: Yin Yoga for Menopause, where we’ll explore the how the slow soft nature of yin yoga really helps us to relax, unwind and replenish our energy stores.
Yin yoga is a calming, meditative practice with its roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine. In Chinese culture the menopause is considered a positive transition towards renewal, elder hood and the post menopausal years, which are viewed as our ’Second Spring’.
Session 1: Through the practice of Yin Yoga, you can release physical and mental tension, quiet your mind, and cultivate a state of mindfulness. The emphasis on long, passive holds encourages you to surrender and let go, allowing stress and worry to melt away. This style of yoga is a deep stretching practice, intended to help you dig into the connective tissues that surround the joints, release tension and free up energy within the body. Specifically, this flow helps you free up emotional energy that may be causing your anxiety.
Session 2: In TCM menopause symptoms are seen as hormonal imbalance and menopause is primarily considered to be a Kidney Yin deficiency. This session focusses on nourishing the kidney channels. As yin is a cooling practice it can help with excess heat in the form of night sweats, hot flushes as well as with strong emotions like rage. As we embrace this stage of life it is vital that we attend to our Kidney energy - the way is yin!
