PAST EVENT: Family Forest Bathing Walk 12 April 2024

£0.00

10:30-12:30pm

A Forest Bathing Walk is very different from traditional outdoor education and forest school experiences. Forest bathing is based on the Japanese practice of ‘shinrin-yoku’. It is all about immersing your senses in nature, and absorbing the sights, sounds and smells of nature.

There is no swimming involved! It is an opportunity for you and the children to slow down, get into your senses and spend time reconnecting with nature and the ecosystem.

Family sessions are designed to be gentle and fun and we’d say they are suitable for children aged 6+. The suggested age requirement is because the session is designed to be slow and peaceful and there are times when you are quiet and still. Please bear this in mind and decide if your child/children will be able to participate in this way, regardless of age.

What happens on a session?

We start with a guided sensory exploration, followed by a series of nature-based invitations designed to encourage re-connection to nature. We will move slowly through the woodland and park over the course of 2 hours and will end with some herbal tea in the walled garden.

At times we will all gather in a group to share our experiences of the activities but there is no pressure for anyone, adult, or child, to share if they do not want to!

Places are limited, so booking is essential.

Please note that due to uneven ground, this event is not accessible for wheelchair users, and people who use sticks to assist with walking may struggle.
