Grounded: Nature-based Art Therapy for Young People

£0.00

Evening sessions, starting w/c 19 May running to w/c 14 July

An 8-week programme of art therapy for young people aged 13-16 years experiencing mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, stress and overwhelm.

Facilitated by an experienced Art Therapist and a support worker, these small group sessions will offer participants an opportunity to experience the process of creating art and the feelings associated with self-expression. A range of nature-based and nature-inspired materials and activities will be available and no previous art experience is necessary: the sessions will focus on creative expression, not on finished product. The group will be a safe, inclusive and supportive space to create without judgement or critique.

Prior to the first session participants and their parents/carers will be invited to meet individually with our Art Therapist and support worker to get to know each other, identify any support needs, and share any concerns about any potential discomforts or triggers.

Sessions are intended to support mental health and wellbeing, enable creative expression, and provide a therapeutic outlet for young people experiencing challenging emotional circumstances.  If you are a parent/carer of a young person who may benefit from these sessions, please get in touch and we’ll send you further information to help you decide whether this course is suitable for your young person, and a short referral form. Information on where and when the sessions will take place will be available in the information pack, and participants will be expected to be available for all sessions, barring unforeseen circumstances.

Please note, this is a small group with space limited to 8 people and places are not guaranteed.  Early application is advised.

Grounded: Nature-based Art Therapy is part of a wider 2-year project to support child and teenage mental health, funded by the Liverpool One Foundation.
