What’s On at The Walled Garden
Workshops, courses and training
We run a wide variety of workshops and courses. Examples include Herbal Healing workshops for adults and children, How to Make Herbal Beauty Products, Natural Dyes, Winter Wreath Making, and Fabric Pumpkin Making. We also have exciting opportunities coming up in Sustainable Building Skills, as we develop the Changing Rooms into a low carbon building. Join the mailing list to be kept informed!
community activites and events
We run regular free events and activities to encourage and inspire people to connect to nature. Foraging, Forest Bathing, Herb Walks, Forest Qigong are examples of the type of activity we offer. We also run seasonal gatherings, open days and one-off events, using the garden to bring people together.
specialist sessions
We run regular sessions for adults and children who have specific types of needs that we can offer support for. These are by arrangement and often run in partnership with local charities, schools or support groups. We’ve been working regularly since 2017 with a wide range of groups, including Adults with Brain Injuries and Conditions, Stroke Survivors, Adults with Learning Disabilities, Children with Autism and Neurodiversity and Kinship Carers. If you are a local charitable organsation and would like to partner with us get in touch. If you are looking to participate in specialist sessions, please check out further information here. Outdoor and holiday clubs
Our popular Forest School Outdoor Clubs enable children to connect to nature, learn through the environment and play outdoors like children used to do. Led by experienced Forest School practitioners, the clubs provide child-centred opportunities for learning, discovery and play. We have different formats of clubs for Babies, Under 5’s, and 5-11’s, running term-time for pre-schoolers and their parents and during school holidays for primary age. We hope to start clubs for older children very soon.
volunteering
If you have a little spare time, why not come and volunteer with us? We run regular volunteer sessions to support the smooth running and maintenance of the walled garden and wider Estate. Currently these are by arrangement, due to the variety of other sessions in the garden. We also run additional volunteer projects, such as sustainable building skills on the development of the low carbon Changing Rooms or Perma-Blitzes. We are especially interested in connecting with volunteers from the local permaculture community, so please let us know if this is something you’re interested in. parties and corporate events

We also offer team building, stress busting and conflict resolution services and outdoor awaydays for corporate clients. Free events
As a community business, we offer a mix of free and paid for services. We target most of our funded activities at communities of need, but also try to ensure a range of ways for everyone to get involved. We try to keep the costs of our paid for activities reasonable and often subsidise from core income. We don’t want cost to be a barrier, so as many of our events are free or affordable as possible, and we have gathered these together for ease of browsing. We can’t wait to welcome you to the Walled Garden!
