Children’s Garden Parties FAQs

Do you only offer parties in summer?

No: in true forest-school style, we are an (almost) all-weather party setting! Rain or chilly weather will not stop us celebrating! Very rarely, we may need to cancel in the event of unsafe weather conditions such as strong winds or very high temperatures, in which case you will be offered an alternative date or a refund.

What should the children wear to the party?

Please come dressed for warmth, dryness and possibly mucky fun! In wet conditions, waterproofs will make outdoor play much more enjoyable, and if it’s summer bring layers, sunhat and sunscreen. Sturdy boots or shoes are essential partywear! A change of clothes is always a good idea in case the cooking gets a bit out-of-hand in the mud kitchen!

Are your parties accessible?

Our parties are accessible for children with additional needs and can be adapted for some specific requirements. Please drop us an email to find out how we can best accommodate your child or their friends if adaptations may be required or to check if our garden is suitable for your needs.

Can you accommodate older/younger children?

Our party activities are aimed at primary children, if you’d like to bring older or younger children please contact us to discuss.

Can you accommodate larger parties?

Additional children are charged at £5 per head. We are unable to offer refunds for any children who do not attend.

Can I bring my own decorations?

You are able to access the garden half an hour before your party starts to set up any food or decorations. In line with our environmental policy, we do not permit balloons and would ask wherever possible you use reusable or recyclable materials. All decorations must be taken down and removed from site after the party. We recommend you bring a bag or sturdy box to store any presents to protect them from any inclement weather as the garden does not have a storage area.

Can I bring party food/cake?

You are welcome to bring your own food and birthday cake, and there will be a table available for you if required. You will need to provide any plates/cutlery etc. We will provide tea and coffee making facilities for parents.

Do you provide party bags?

No, but we can offer nature-based craft activities as part of your party package, which the children can take home afterwards.

Do parents stay with the children?

For parties for children 5 years and over, a minimum of 3 parents should stay to assist with activities if required and support the children with any difficulties or issues. All children under 5 should be supervised by a parent or carer. For any children without a parent/carer in attendance, the party host should have emergency contact details, and any relevant dietary and medical information.

Are there toilet/baby changing facilities?

We have a compost toilet in the garden. There are no dedicated baby changing facilties, so parents may wish to bring their own changing mat, or use the facilities in Sudley House (subject to opening hours). Dirty nappies, wipes, etc should be bagged and taken home for disposal.
