The capital project to refurbish the old derelict changing rooms building was characterised by a desire to make the building as low carbon as possible, fitting with Growing Sudley’s overall ethos and aims. For financial and logistical reasons, compromises had to be made along the way - the greenest choices are often not the most cost effective. Growing Sudley’s brief to the architects was to follow ecological refurbishment design principles and below is a summary of the principles of the project and approaches taken.
