JOANNA HAWORTH - Creative Psychotherapist and Art Therapist
I am a creative psychotherapist; registered art therapist with HCPC and a member of the British association of art therapists. I offer space to children, teens and adults to reconnect and find safety through creativity.
Creative psychotherapy offers a safe process to explore your experiences, beliefs and feelings through creative art materials and objects. Sometimes it can be hard to find and connect the words to our lived experience. Creative therapy reduces expectation to verbally share. Instead, it offers a safe distance to process your needs, develops self-awareness and can reduce stress. No need to have any creative experience! It can be especially helpful to process unconscious thoughts and feelings that we may hold from our early life experiences, trauma or challenges we have faced along the way. If verbal communication feels best for you, we can work in this way, you are not obliged to use any art materials on our sessions together.
I offer space to allow you to feel more secure and empower you to be your true self. For children, I also offer support to parents and carers in understanding trauma responses, and supporting emotional wellbeing affected by school attendance.
I offer both short and long term therapy to adults and children.
